Hello, Blender Community. I’m using Blender 3.1.2 on my PC and am having problems with the Shift+R command. It’s supposed to repeat the previous command, but it does not operate like that even when using it for a very basic process. For example, I press Shift+D on an object and place the duplicated object 1 meter to the right. With the new object selected, I press Shift+R. What happens is the new object just moves another 1 meter to the right without duplicating itself. That means if I press Shift+R five times, the new object would move a total of 5 meters to the right. How can I solve this? Please advise. Thanks.
Shift+R command repeats only the very last action. In your case, you just actually did 2 actions: 1) duplicated the Cube, and 2) you moved it 1 meter. So it behaved like it’s supposed to when the Shift+R command only moved the Cube, because that’s indeed the last action.
If you intend to record multiple actions into one command, consider checking out this Action Recorder Addon.
Thanks for the response. I could upload a video to show what happens on my screen but I can’t since I’m just new to the community. I tried the process again. This time, I just moved the cube along the Y-axis. Nothing else, I did the Shift+R but the same happens. The Cube just moves along the axis. It doesn’t duplicate the object.
It’s fine. Just like what I’ve pointed out, the Shift R command only repeats the last action you did, which in your case it was the moving part (not the duplicating part).
Please check out the addon above to help you solve your particular problem.
I see. I’ll check the addon you mentioned. Thanks for the help.
It works if you dont confirm the first action, just shift+d g… will do it for a repeat with shift+r.
