Shoe Model + Short

I got back to Blender after few weeks of waiting for new system after my 13inch laptop passed away.

I’ve finished shoe model to practice modeling and texturing skills. Very short animation followed.

wow. just wow. that is one of the most photorealistic renders that i have seen coming out of blender. ever. beautiful model and oh so nice details! amazing.

Really impressive texturing. Great-looking stuff!

EDIT: Man, the video is great too! Would you mind telling us how you did the dissolve effect at the end?

That is absolutely fantastic

Wonderful, realy a great job, and yes texturing is probably the key on that realistic result, even BI can produce realistic images if you pay some attention to the texturing like this. And yes, what did you use for the dissolve fx, I would say particule system with Z acceleration, I can figure out the way to achieve that, but I’m not sure.

Fantastic, it really looks real!

Thanks,
glad to see positive feedback!
Enricoceric is right, thats generally the way its done. The only thing that isnt obvious, is that i forgot to disable collision for the shoe mesh itself (used for baking laces animation). So most of the particles bounce inside. It wasnt intetional but looked good in the end:)

The textures are edited photos i took of my real shoe. So it wasnt that dificult to achieve this look. I thing its much harder to come up with own design than reproducing existing stuff.

This is very good !

Excellent texturing work. I like the lighting a lot, and the dissolve effect at the end is just great.

Is the sequence at the end of the animation, were the shoe comes to a halt done by hand or did you use the physics engine. It looks very realistic.

loramel:
Thanks. I used physics engine for that and cloth sim to animate shoelaces. Thank god for these blender features. i quite suck at manual animation:)

Cestmir, I had to come over here and rave at the shoe animation too! Can I see a wire at all? I really am impressed at the laces are the high polly for that fluid feeling?
The lighting on the shoe, is that a projected map or a number of coloured spots? Did you have lighting in the shoe, as it seems to glow strangely from inside. Where did you get the nice glow from? Nodes?

Oh, the shoes back on the light:)
Thanks 3pointEdit.

Laces are not that high poly. Theres cloth modifier and some subsurf on top.

I was just adding some coloured (pretty much random:) lights to the scene and something came up. Theres one white spotlight, yelowish sun, blue regular light, some orange light… dont remember. The orange sphere is there to fake orange light reflection. (screen below is taken from the drop scene)

The lighting/glow is done by many namy spots. Theres paticle emiter parenteded to model emitting partictles drawn as spotlights with halo on. One emiter for red lights and one for blue.

Thats about it:)

Wow what a great effect, I really like your style. You squeeze out a very realistic look from the BI (?)renderer, congrats. How does the orange sphere reflect light back? Does it emit?

Thanks again. It has to be BI. I cant use anything else:) The sphere is set to emit so it reflects on the ground plane.
(Just forgot the scene with the refelction isnt in final edit)

That shoe must have the newest looking inside I have ever seen on a second hand shoe. Roughed up exterior but pristine interior, have you got small feet?

Seriously great work, can’t wait to see what is next.

The animation is a bit… odd, considering it’s a shoe, but having said that, it’s an excellent model, and I love the way you put together the animation, with the lighting and the particles and music and composition.

Great work, all around.

I couldn’t believe this was made in blender. It looked so realistic in the picture. The details were amazing. I can’t find any flaws in it no matter how hard I try.

Btw whats the song you used in the first video?

3pointedit: Damn! I knew someone was going to notice!! I didnt really bother with the inside and the bottom to be honest.

Hobo Joe. Thank you. It is probably bit odd. Its just random stuff that came on my mind.

Theory: Its called THE SHOE SONG.
No. Its not really song, Its some cords i played on guitar. Which i put to FL studio and used ARPEGGIATE [if thats the word:)] tool.

Never has one shoe, come to be something so great.

5stars.

Post it on cgtalk.

I agree with everything nice that has been said about this render and then some.

Great Work
