lately i have been busy working on yet another title.
As you all know, projects get cancelled, forgotten and/or degraded
to become study material for your next project.
But i feel that with this project i am going to finish what i started
The project :
A shoot’em up where you need to shoot and kill zombie’s eager to eat your brains.
There will be 1 tutorial and 3 levels (for now).
You only need the mouse movement and LMB to navigate through the game.
Finished so far :
2 levels, Storage Facility and Graveyard
- Storage facility : has explodable barrels and kamikaze dynamite zombie.
- Graveyard : shoot the graves to score some extra points,
also has the kamikaze dynamite zombie.
score system : counts your score and combo.
gun : fully animated, gets overheated if used unwisely over time
zombies : there’s 7 different ones, ranging from easy to kill to insane m#therf#ckers
some achievements, but more need to be implemented.
basic zombie model made by Edimar Dos Reis Silva
barrel model made by Eli Gershenfeld
There is no final release date yet but i’m guessing it wont take too long anymore.
And last, but not least i have some screenshots :
Graveyard :
Storage Facility :
Enjoy, and let me know what you guy’s think of it plz.
Looks like you got a solid idea figured out and it sounds good, but there’s some lose ends.
Some pointers and questions:
Graphically, - that gun model got to change. Everything on the screen is so shaded that the gun almost looks cartoonish.
Why do I walk around and shoot zombies?
Who am I in the game?
Will I unlock anything or is achievements just for the fun of it?
the gun model (like everything else in this game) is still a w.i.p.
Although i like how the model looks, it looks indeed kinda odd
against the rest of the scenery. At the moment it is set to be shadeless,
but that will probably change.
The story of this game is not yet finished so i can not tell you who
you will be playing, but i can tell you however that you are in control
of a stationary turret. So no walking around in this game.
Just point and shoot the zombies.
The achievement system, for now, is just there for fun.
Let me explain…
One of these “achievements” is called ‘Comeback Kid’ and
you get this one when your healthbar gets back to 100% after
being below 50%.
Another is when you kill 5 zombies with an exploding barrel.
I could attach some things you could gain (like trowing frags or something)
but at the moment it is just for fun.
I hope i answered your questions, but if you got more… keep it coming
Nice menu, but I have a recommendation for you. Red and black colors are within the same types of colors and there exists a small amount of color blending within your menu. I would recommend that you add some sort of glow to the red text. Perhaps a light thouch of white or or brighter red color.
Another solution would be to have a some kind of brighter fog parallax(animation) in the background, moving slowly horizontally.
I am at a point in the progress of this game where i can truly
say that i am really going to finish this project.
Final release date is in the near future.
i finished the big boss at the end of the Graveyard level.
The model is from Edimar Dos Reis Silva (same guy that made the zombies) or
on the blendswap website better known as Mutte.
I gave the boss 4 animations (landing, fighting, jump_out and death)
and some logic bricks to make him kick your ass
@ leonnn : tnx for the nice comment
@ Alle92 : tnx for the tip about the colors (didn’t know that). And i am sure
i will keep this in mind for future projects. But if you could see the menu in action
you would see that it is not a problem here. It’s because of the picture, because
in the game, the fog in the menu IS animated (can’t see that on a picture offcourse).
I did try to make the ‘fog’ brighter but it kills the illusion of the fog.
It could also be the font, you can’t go to small with it.
ah no there will not be joystick support in this game,
tho you did make me curious about using a joystick to
control blender games :eyebrowlift:
I looked it up and found a nice .blend that works with
my playstation 3 controller in my 2.57 Blender build !!
Amazing !! (tho it’s called Xbox_3D_platformer something…)
So maybe in the future i am going to try to make a
blender game that uses joystick support, but not
in this game. It’s all about the mouse in this game
(also no keyboard input needed)
i am proud to say that we have managed to implement a
saving system into the game
So now the game automatically saves your score
when that value is greater than the saved score.
(used an expression controller for this :eyebrowlift: )
The script itself is written by PhilB.
Saves the GameLogic.gobalDict to a file using cPickle.
More updates to come as we progress towards the release date.
@ Kamiyama, YES i know what you mean !! It’s always an .exe and maybe sometimes for LINUX but never for MAC
@ RossBlenderArt, uploading on our own site for now (www.team2studio.com).
I know the site doesn’t look good and only has 1 game (Catch’em) but this is just a placeholder
for something we are working on and will be replaced soon
When the website is ready i will upload it there.
a lot of time has past since my last post here but this game is’nt dead
We just can’t find time to work on our website lately so i finally decided to
put it on the BGAME website.
It will go live somewhere today cuz i want to make a windows version too
so i can put it all in one neat little .zip package.
