Shrinkwarp on a curve

Hi,

I used a plane on a bottle top. Unfortunately, the Shrinkwarp mod deformed my plane. But why?

Hi!

Shrinkwrap not so much wraps a surface, but rather glues it’s vertices to the closest target vertex (in this wrap method).
So if the difference between original state and your goal is too big, you get weird deformations like this.
The closer the mesh matching the surface, the better are chances to get good results. But it’s not an exact science in any case… I think.

In addition to @stray 's excellent advice, let me add- the more geometry your plane has, the closer to the original it will be when you shrink wrap. If you want even better results, you can just subdivide your plane even further
