Breakdown
Step one: Distortion setup
It’s a sphere duplicated and scaled with geometry nodes:
And with a glasslike material to distort the light rays:
Step two: Accretion disk
It’s an object with a volumetric shader applied to it:
The shader nodes ended up being quite complex
Step three: Putting it all together
Accretion disk + distortion:
And then adding some compositing:
