Simple Leg Rig - I can't make it work

Hi, I have a simple leg model and I would like to have a working armature but I can’t make it work, I have bones and I even did a manual weight map in vertex groups but I have no idea what to do to make it move, I tried to parent in all ways and it doesn’t work.

I will be very grateful for bringing this to action or explaining what I do wrong, because in the tutorial it works and here it doesn’t :frowning:

the armature is parented to the mesh, you need to do the opposite :wink: so first thing, unparent the leg and parent the mesh to the armature

A couple of things:

It seems like the bones cannot be selected in pose mode, don’t know why. Add another workspace (general>layout) with the plus sign on the top of the window. That seems to make it selectable.

You have the leg the parent of the bones you need to do the opposite. Set the bones as the parent of the leg.

The vert groups are already there. So there isn’t a need for automatic weights.
