Sketchasaurs - Spinosaurus

This one ended up being a bit more technically challenging than my previous Sketchasaur pieces, largely due to 4.5’s sudden problem with Geometry Nodes, and I didn’t catch that weird hiccup at 0:05 before I had already rendered the shot as a texture, but I do think it turned out pretty well overall. The goal was to find ways to use this medium-within-a-medium style to convey our scientific knowledge of dinosaurs in a unique way, and transitioning between pencil and watercolor was fun to try to work out.
Still a pain, so I’m unlikely to use it again quite like this, but fun nonetheless.

Let me know what you think!

That is very inspiring, and I love the transition from one to another like that.

Thank you guys for the love! I’ve been neglecting this site for a while, and it was nice to come back after so long and see how much appreciation this got, especially the “Featured” row. I’ve been really busy with the follow-up, and while it’s also turning out to be a little more complicated than I’d anticipated, all the kind comments on my previous videos have been making it so much easier to keep going. I’m hoping to get it out in the next week or two, so I’ll see you then!

Me? An inspiration?
I’m certainly glad you think so. I just don’t think I’ve gotten used to getting such kind words about my art yet.

Thanks! This series started with trying to recreate the look of illustrations in scientific papers from the 70s and 80s, so I’m glad that concept still shows through.
