Skull Model (First Ever Model)

Hi SDSJap,
Yeah I hear what your saying about the UVSphere saving time.
With this mesh I went down the road of using the mirrior modifier, and extruding a plane
to make the edgeloops etc. I did this for 2 main reasons: -

  • To gain some mileage in modeling under my belt (I can look for shortcuts later when I know what I’m doing a bit more)
  • Every tutorial I have seen suggests avioding triangles as this causes uneven faces (i.e. not smooth, and givein ugly results). I’m guessing that you would have a series of triangles at the poles of the sphere (or am i being to critical here?).Thoughts?

the triangles could be removed if need be at the very least it givs you the top back and bottom of the skull…the triangles didnt give me trouble on my skull so i left them
but you are correct it is best to avoid triangles if possible…they cause pinching and artifacts if they have alot of deformation around them
