I decided to try some subsurf modelling which I haven’t done a a lot of, before. I decided to go for a skull, and try to make it as realistic as possible.
I would like your opinion on the topology and structure in general.
I think the top part looks fairly decent, but there’s something odd with the lower jaw (I don’t know if it’s just the lack of teeth)
Judging from those images it looks good this far. When it comes to topology: I think, because this is a skull, neither meshes will deform (i.e. like skin and muscles do), so if the subsurfed object looks good it is good. Basically.
I made some teeth but some of them still need some slight modification (aligning them was a pain) It’s pretty amazing how much the adding of teeth changed the look of the model. I also filled the holes in the forehead and fixed some weird creases. And I also added the back of the cranium.
I know that the roots of some teethgco through the mesh.
I think the next step is to fix the teeth, and then add the structure inside the skull.
Again, looks great. The skull looks much complete with those teeth. I can even feel the rest of the skull lacks details now. Don’t miss the details on inferior part of the skull.
I thinks you should rework the orbits (the eye sockets). Here is an image to give you an idea what the looks like:
I think because it’s sticking out so far. He would have a HUGE nose! I would flesh in the mouth region with more detail. It’s lacking, where as on a real skull that part (under your lip) has lots of definition.
