Skybox map?

Normally I’d use a still camera and have all the models in the shot moving as actors compositing a nice photoshoped space background. However, I’m doing some scenes now where I’d like to have some pretty space backgrounds, but they trick is, they need to move with the camera.

What comes to mind at first is using a large texture as a skybox, but that does seem to limit camera options.

Anyone else have some ideas?

Have you tried modelling a space background with particles and/or using stars under world settings? You can use a dome or sphere sky texture.
