Skybox stars going crazy

I’ve built a test skybox, but the render is really strange:

I was hoping for a smooth pan across a starfield, but even with the movement turned right down (the marker cubes barely move) the stars just go nuts and it becomes impossible to see what’s happening. Which is pretty much the definition of a render fail.

Does anyone have any ideas what is going wrong, and how I can fix it?
