Smoke Simulator Problem

Hey guys, I’ve been trying to create some smoke presets that I can use in live action video by using blender. I’ve been running into problems controlling the smoke though.

First the smoke starts off good and the way I want it to look. Going a good distance to the right before it rises and dissolves.

After a while the smoke starts to shoot off at an upwards angle and have smoke rising up at the emission area. This is what I don’t like.

The settings for my particles and smoke were kept mostly the same for default smoke.
Amount: 17000
240 Frames Of Emission
Lifetime: 1
Normal Velocity: 8

Smoke Settings:
Resolution: 85
High Resolution: Yes, 1
Noise Method: Wavelength, 2
Initial Velocity: Yes
Dissolve: Yes, slow and 5

Thanks to anyone that can help, I also hopes this helps give other people a better understanding of controlling the smoke simulator after questions are asked.

Maybe the emitter is too near to the domain boundary?

Unfortunately, moving created the same results, good idea though.

I had this exact same problem. I started with a regular fireball, and then suddenly, I had a weird thingy moving up the side of the simulation.

The settings for my particles and smoke were kept mostly the same for default smoke.
Amount: 1000
1 Frames Of Emission
Lifetime: 1
Normal Velocity: 1
Random: 2.013

Smoke Settings:
Resolution: 32
High Resolution: Yes, 6 Divisions
Noise Method: FFT, Strength 2
Smooth Emitter: Off.
Initial Velocity: Yes
Dissolve: no.

All other settings were default.
my domain was
x 1.709
y1.709
z4.141

Hmm… maybe this has to do something with the life of the particles. Because if the particles just appear for 1 frame, the smoke might just rise up, because that what smokes supposed to do. So maybe if we set the particle life to 2 frames, it’ll give the smoke more distance before it rises up like that.
