Soft Light Church Interior - 2.90

Hello all! Long time lurker and first time Blender user. I’ve typically done lighting in real-time game engines but I wanted to branch out and learn Cycles to make something with a bit more substance and without a consideration for performance

Here’s a churchy interior with a diffused sunlight lighting scheme. Materials are from Megascans tweaked to taste, and most of the 3D models are from CGTrader and SketchFab.

The monochrome versions are loosely based on the visual style of the David Fincher Mank trailer that just came out.

The lighting was setup to mimic a simple film set style setup for a location like this with large unbleached muslin sheets bouncing in more sunlight into the interior.

I used the Physical Starlight and Atmosphere plugin to quickly tweak the global lighting.

Edit: Updated post with the other images! All of them should be 4K but some are only uploading in 1920, odd.

I really like it a lot, but really… NEON cross?

Thank you Timo!

The idea for the neon cross, and indeed the whole idea for the scene came from watching this scene of True Detective: https://youtu.be/nUhn-fCEb9k

Something about a teal cross on the wall in his office kicked off the idea to make a churchy vignette

The more neon you have, the closer to God you are I suppose!

I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend!
