[Solved] Can Blender 2.5 save deformed mesh (.blend) during animated sequence?

As an example, I’ve created a table and cloth plane. I run the animation till the cloth plane settles onto the table in a realistic way. I then want to save the mesh of the cloth plane in its deformed shape as a .blend file but can’t figure out how to do this easily in Blender 2.5.

I’ve been able to export the animation to a sequence of obj files then import the particular time slice back into blender but this seems to be an awkward way to do it. There must be an easier way that I’m missing.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Just apply the cloth modifier on the frame you want to freeze the cloth mesh
