[SOLVED] Issue with applying materials to imported Alembic file

[SOLVED]

Hey guys! Sooo the title pretty much says it all.

Basically I’m working on exporting an animation from CLO3D as Alembic (OGAWA) file format, and import it to Blender to apply textures and such to it. Below is a screenshot of the export options in CLO3D, there’s not much to do to it:

When I imported it and tried to apply materials and textures to the mesh, it wouldn’t show. Only showing the applied materials in edit mode. And there’s also a modifier added to the alembic automatically, when I apply the modifier the materials shows up, but the animation is gone.

I’ve been searching for solutions around but not much luck. Can you all experts here help me out with this?

I’ve attached the .blend file with the alembic file imported in the Dropbox link.

And the .abc file:

Thanks!!

Send the ABC file…the blend only has the textures applied and no animation data. Better we try the import then we can see what is going on…

Here’s the ABC file:

Thanks!

What was the solution? I don’t see anything here but it says it’s solved.

Hey Tom yea I sort of figured it out, the issue occurs ONLY when I merged vertices (Alt+M) and Recalculate Normals (Alt+N) in edit mode. So I am able to apply materials and textures by just avoid doing the above.

Hello there

i’ve got the same exact problem, i need to apply a very exact texture in an abc file imported in blender octane and it shows completely wrong. it’s not an uv problem since in edit mode i see the texture applied correctly.

can someone help?
many thanks!
