Looking to trim a plane closer to talent. See pic for explanation.
basically I want to trim my plane tighter to my talent. Instead of subdividing 20 times and cutting corner to corner via selecting verts and hitting “J”. to divide and then remove face. Can this be done with a knife or grease pencil (see red line)? IF so please share with me how, the steps or a screen grab or two to explain.

No… This was simple Knife. Import Image as a Plane and cut away. If ngon is not desirable J connect verts across. UVs will stay intact.
As i said, masking was just an idea and looks like produced mask can not be used to drive material directly unless you make another b/w strip out of mask’s animation.
