Some help with view-> render diffrences

I have been messing with Shift-z (Z buffered textures?) and using that on a sphere to make faces with sculpt. and have had some issues, the editing window and render are vastly diffrent is there a way to fix it? the image says it all…

Maybe the preview uses the same focale than the camera, and the viewport is ortho mode?
I never encountered that, it’s funny!

maybe the preview window just doesn’t update or something? It looks as though the preview window thinks it’s closer to the object than the viewport actually is. No idea if that’s it though.
