I’m making it up as i go along, i treid to make it original as possible but it still looks a bit generic alien.

I Guess your right it does still look a bit generic, good though.
Did you use sculpt mode or did you just make it with a mesh and subsurf?
You could bend the ends off the eyes down and have them connect with the mesh of the shoulders…that might be less generic. Also, where does this Alien come from? What kind of world and what kind of life does it live? Since this alien looks realistic, might as well give it some background. That might help you. From the mouth structure, I would guess an herbivore, one that eats easy to chew vegetation because of lack of jaw muscles. Though, that crest on the top of the head could hold some muscle for the jaws (that’s where the extra clamp for a lot of Earth species comes from). So, this might mean it has the jaws to crack nuts as well. Or, the crest could be something else. The curvature might suggest it’s function as a receptor for some form of communication, verbal or not.
Just my two cents.
If you tilt the outer eyes backwards he could have almost 360 degrees field of view.
Progress is slow when you haven’t got a clue how its going to turn out, this was after another hours twiddling about.

Just one thing though, From his head he looks quite sedate and peaceful, yet his body looks quite strong and powerful and it seems like a bit of a mis match (thats just my opinion :eyebrowlift:)

I’m definately thinking herbivore at the point, the mouth suggests that. As for the body, any animal is going to need to have muscles to survive. Maybe it needs to avoid predators. Or needed to, if it reached intellligence.

looking cool. i like where you’re getting with this. i suggest adding some eyes so that we can get a better look at it in the preview images.
This could be quite interesting. That head is great. The body I think needs to fit with that head in some way.
The neck is long but powerfull. Maybe you should make the lower arm area also long and powerfull. It would help the viewer accept the logical flow in the design throughout the whole character. Maybe the lower legs are also long and powerfull. Upper arms and upper legs are short and stocky. The hands are big. Dunno. Use the face as reference for the rest of the alien’s body. There is something aquatic about it (maybe I’m seeing a combination of blowfish and hammerhead shark here)…
Widen the shoulders more to make way for some chest muscles - it looks like he has no pecs! No pecs no sex - just kidding. No, he needs some pushing muscles. At the moment he can pull a truck but can’t even push a table around.
A spinal chord like that should have a really bizarre skeletal thorax that needs some definition. Just under the arms (around the kidneys) there is no fat areas. Try to define some of these ribs.
Also, that bicep is too far outside. Move it closer to the body. The upper deltoid is supposed to fold over it across to the back. Check out some bodybuilder pics with good muscle definition.
Also, use some anatomy references and try to see what the muscle groups are doing. It will help you build your alien’s body in a logical way.
It’s not really necessary, your doing a great job. It’s only for realism reasons. With good texturing and lighting this model could really work so far

The only thing that stands out to me is that the chest seems a bit small to support those arms(unless you’re going for a small body large arms look which would be a neat looking alien) 
Thanks everybody! I shall try and make the anatomy make sense before the end, but for now im just trying out ideas. So far ive got mixed thoughts about what sort of creature this is supposed to be, its definately a herbivore, but its an aggressive herbivore one capable of fighting, climbing and running quickly.
