Havent play with this much but factor and time node I think might be similar to what you are looking for.

Hello,
I have been working on a DVD fro some time now and have been using blender for post production on some video shots.
I have been using nodes to change contrast, color, saturation, and adding some specular glows.
But finding this thread and playing around with an avi directly in the image editor would be much quicker. However, I have run into some problems.
-
How do you get what you see in the image editor to render?
-
How can you get what you paint on (say) frame one to continue for the rest of the frames of the movie sequence?
If you look at the image from the link (a stunningly handsome figure of a man), you will see what I mean (I hope).

Thanks in advance for all of your help.
Sincerely, xn
Oh the other thing I was going to ask. With auto refresh selected on the properties panel, the movie properly changes as I go to different frames (e.g. by using the arrow keys). BUT, it erases what I’ve painted. If I deselect auto refresh, what I paint stays, but the frames don’t change… So how does this all work?
Sorry to write in such a confusing manner.
great to see people using this.

To get it to output I used the compositing nodes I think. Used the image input and output to a file.

I would love it to copy to the next frame. I dont think that it does this yet. This is a new feature so not many people are using it yet. I would also like a few other basic tool to edit with too. But we will see someone should put together a decent proposual.

This works as layers your new output will be saved once you render. But it doesnt destory your orginal work.
Thanks for the reply.
I’m not sure I understood what you meant by layers etc. But, in time, I hope to.
Yes, being able to have the paint effect transfer to all frames would be very powerful.
As far as effects go. I would love to see the sequence editor’s glow effect made into a node filter for node compositing.
BTW, blender users should be aware that these tools are really incredible. I have been able to do some really cool post production stuff on video I shot with my camcorder. It looks fantastic.
I wish though that blender supported DV instead of having to convert via virtual dub to the old avi format.
here is some cool video tutorials…
And one that shows how to do glow in nodes.
Warning decent size download.(20-50megs)

actually I would like to be able to edit paint strokes from frame to frame(like bezier curves). If that were possible. And eraser and lasso and … and… and… Guess i better start coding and learn how. :eyebrowlift:
I have been doing a glow technique very similar to this using nodes, but I like the sequence editor’s glow effect better.
Thanks for the info.
