Spruce - Backyard House

Hello,
I wanted to share another of my recent works for Backyard ADUs that also happens to be my first autumn exterior. I also used the upcoming Scatter addon.
Made in Blender and rendered with Cycles. 800 samples were usually enough though for the bokeh shot I had to increase it to 4000.

This is seriously amazing!
I love the way you made the straws in the second picture. They look very soft. How did you create them?
The composition of the first picture is also very good. Can I ask how much of it is 3D models and how much is 2D?
Great job!

@sempervirent Thank you so much!

@Dan80 Thanks a lot Daniel, I’m really happy you like it!

That grass is actually a 3D plant from Megascan library. It uses an alpha map and translucency texture which give it that look that I love as well and couldn’t resist making a close-up.

None of the things you see is 2D. Every tree and grass blade is an actual model which added to my memory usage that went up to over 9GB during rendering.

Beautiful! I’m surprised about only 9gig. How long was the render?

What method did you use for the trees? Did you use the grove? They look beautiful!

@anon18318387 Thanks mate!

@Raffael Thank you! Rendering took about 1 hour and 30 minutes on GTX 1070.
For trees I unfortunately couldn’t use The Grove because I needed to distribute them using Scatter which uses particle system for instancing while The Grove uses the same method for distributing twigs on each tree. I found out that it’s impossible to stack particle systems like that and therefore I had to use models that are one solid object ( I purchased them).

1h30 with one gtx? That’s pretty good!

Thanks for the explanation! How many sample?

800 for most of the renders.

I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend!

Wow. Job phenomenally well done. Thanks for sharing this work. It is super inspiring! The lighting, the autumnal colors, and the shadows enhances the overall realism of this piece. Man, I just want to pack up my things and move into that sweet little home.
