Squares when using cycles renderer

Does anyone know how to get rid of these annoying squares in render, they also appear in viewport shading.

but this is individual for that object, I guess there is no global setting somewhere? I wonder why this happening anyway?

That is because the sphere does not have enough geometry. Even though you’re using smooth shading you will still need to use a SubDiv modifier.

There’s geometry offset feature in Blender 3.0 - it greatly reduces the artefact and is set by default.
