"Star" finished

Hello Blender forum! This would be my first post here, yay.

This is something I’m working on to use when applying for various art schools (3D animation mostly  ), so honest critique is more than welcome! So far it’s still in the sketching stage, which is why the hands are a mess for example (I’m going to redo those with proper references) but I’ll welcome any suggestions about small or big changes.

I like your choice of colours - my first impression is that the image is of something along this theme. If the sketch was fifty years old, and in a frame, it would be in a category of art, and be in someone’s collection, or a museum piece, as it is.

Look forward to how you develop this piece.

Thank you very much for your kind words kbot!

This is the progress I’ve made so far, but I decided the hands couldn’t stay so I’m working on painting in the old hands while writing… new wip coming up soon. :stuck_out_tongue:

Newest wip… so hard to know when to stop! But I’m gonna lay this to rest for now.

Why did you change the hands again? I liked your second draft of the painting better than your most recent. It’s nice overall, good colors. I’m just starting to study figure drawing, so I hope soon to be attempting things like this. Keep it up.

Cheers and God bless.

This piece was (is) very difficult for me in the sense that I can’t decide on what version of it I wanna work with. I liked the first couple of hands, the outstretched ones, because they seemed to tell more of a story, but it’s hard to make them a part of the image. My only real trouble with the second draft was that I wasn’t satisfied with how the body turned out. I do want it to be there, but still merged with the rest of the image.

Thank you for your input!

Started working on details now, so here’s how it looks so far:

Nice, yap, just by changing the hands where they are that gave totally different to the feel or story to it…

Oh, the detailing part! you got this far and I like it, if this was a real painting I may buy it…

Rate.

Wow, I love it! mmm… the colors!

Thank you! I love the colors too, they’re very pleasant to work with for a long time.

Hopefully I’ll be able to call this finished by tomorrow, so if you have any final tips I’ll be happy to listen. I’ll fix her upper body tomorrow, a bit too tired at the moment :stuck_out_tongue:

Exquisite work so far. Loving the progression of the piece. If you haven’t found this page already, here’s a link to an amazing tutorial for painting realistic hair…Check it out if you’ve got some spare time.

Looking forward to seeing more.

P.S. I love the hands…very realistic.

EDIT: I’m not saying your hair looks bad, quite the contrary. I’m just saying that following the tutorial closely may push it to the next level.

Thank you for the comment and link! I didn’t aim for super-realistic hair in this picture, partly because so much of it is unrealistic (the background, not the hair). But that tutorial seems like a very good one, so I’ll definitely read it!

Oh nice tutorial…

But I want Stina style (NO OTHER), To me its not about realistic or anything from that. Its that moment you somehow got spot-on that story, feel, maybe ther is great paint out there have more realistic look but there is that HUGE missing part on the paint just like I said Mood,Feel story and so…
Stina, it up to you to add any other style But please, (really) I did not see something Nice like this paint for some time, Do be free to complte it as you see it, I want your style !
And agine, I will buy it if it was a real painting.

Peace.

Final drawing, named Saudade after this entry I found in wikipedia:

Saudade is like nostalgia but with the hope that what is being longed for might return, even if that return is unlikely or so distant in the future to be almost of no consequence to the present.

Itsorta sums up what I want to tell with this drawing. And I’m so happy it’s finished, yaay!

Fahassani, hope you like the drawing! I’ve tried to keep true to the vision I had from the beginning while making this.

You did a great job! and what’s this I see, you did it as your avatar!

I saved your work to my HDD with other Great Masters Artists. am happy! cos I did not added something Nice to my folder for some-time.

By the way, there are people out there will not like it or jealous of it and they have A lot of different point of view on art ( maybe not on BA) . I do not like to see an artist/artists with feel and new point of view on art go to no where or just stop like that by people with hard words with no meaning

I urge you to start an art gallery also if its digital.
thanks for shearing this W.I.P.
