i kinow this is based on a stargate thing, but it looks like somthing you would see in the ps3 game: Warhawk…
pretty dang cool dude, keep it up!

The addition of runway doesn’t affect the render speed as you might think. It doesn’t matter that much how many vertices you have there, but where are they is important. You use a scale of 1 BU = 1m or so, do you? So you added there a runway, which has few hundreds meters at least (or 3 km). And this is bad for the scene, raytracing is used. The scene is stored in octree data structure, which speeds up the computation by cleverly sorting triangles (I don’t know how exactly it is, but it works somehow like this).
The possible solution is to play with the Octree resolution (higher values are good for detailed objects far away, but the preparation of scene can take few times longer). Other solution is to render in layers. Render the plane and a small plane with OnlyShadow material on it. In second layer (without raytracing) render the runway itself and combine in composition nodes.
BTW, the runway looks too narrow, like on some small airfield.
nice one svenniemannie!
P.S. you know me as Animaster
Apart from making a (short) animation (Think about 2 F-302’s flying over my house :eyebrowlift: (Hope I don’t make everything too difficult for me)) I want to make a still as well.
This here is just a kind of sketch. I hope you all see the picture represents the last second of life of the pilots (and F-302).
Is it a good Idea to do a still like this, or should I take a completely different way?
The graphics are quite good in the picture, better than the F-302s in some episodes of Atlantis I’ve seen. I’d like to see it flying over your house.
change the “balls” into Green/Red Lazer beams!
and in the background an exploding Space Station
Nah, no laser beams. All Stargate Races have energy balls, except for the Ori. So I stay with the balls
The Space-station would be a good Idea, but that would be a complete new project to add a decent-looking spacestation, and I’d like to keep the F-302 on the foreground.
I tweaked the lightning a bit, added the missile for more action, and added a better background. Problem: Mesh looks good, background looks nice, but they don’t go together… Any tips?
why the rocket at his last second???
make an escape pod!
kijk.nl is fun isn’t it?
Well, in fact I thought of making the cockpit eject, but I think I’ll keep at this, death
maybe an motor failure?
and that the fireballs (or how u call it…) are motor pieces…
cool idea
Ok, I think that this W.I.P. is almost ready. I’ll post it in Focused Critique now for some last tips, and then it’s finished
