Still working on a procedural brick shader but starting to get quite a bit of use out of it. This scene is fictitious, but all the buildings are modeled on real structures in Kensington and other parts of London. I will add some follow up posts to show the various ways in which the brick texture is used. Would love to get feedback on any aspect of this. The thing that I’m most aware of is the need for something other than a perfectly clear sky.
Updated with some low clouds. I used two layers of procedural volumes to capture something like stratocumulus clouds. To get the light to catch the underside, I slightly tilted the volume.
Thanks for the comment @Bullit. It’s a bit contrived, but there are some out of view buildings that are blocking the sun at various points. I’ll take a look at what happens when these are removed and then see if there is a way to work them back in so that their shadows are more obvious.
I pulled the improvements to the brick material from my WIP on the brick viaduct back into this image - I think it makes a good improvement. I’ll update the bridge as well with the same dirt and grime.
