Steampunk Tesla Lamp

Hello guys, I wanted to share with you my wip, it’s been a long time since I did something.
Your feedback is appreciated

I also would like to ask, should I also make the bolts Geo or texture?

Nice work. I’d make bolts geometry as they are good practice and that detail is worth it.
I’d say it’s your preference, to follow the actual photo, in which case I think a texture might suffice, or to follow a more practical look. I see two versions of this artwork, one’s truly following the reference, which looks like a diecast toy, or, the practical version - treat it like every component matters. I think your current model leans to the practical side, so I would model every component.

First of all thank you so much for your feedback, I actually needed that.
second of all, I wanted it to be a game-ready Hero asset, I’m new to making game-ready stuff and saw some good artists make the bolts as High poly then bake it to the low.
Also may I ask you, since you gave me some good critiques, would this make a good portfolio piece after I’m done with texturing and rendering? because I’m really lost and I’ve got no one to help me so I’m improvising.
Thank you again, your help really is appreciated.

Thanks for saying that! I think baking it to the low would work. I used to make mods, and then I’d compare the polycount to the original item since bots used it, making it worth cutting extra polys for performance. In any case, keeping the high poly version for your asset collection is always good.
I’m a stranger to the CG industry, but if you’re going to use this in your portfolio, I think you might want to make a scene or environment to put it in, with good lighting.
Cheers!

I finished adding the bolts and tiny details. And I’m officially done with the modelling and ready for the next phase
