This is my latest work and 40K fan art. Just a Storm-Bolter sitting in a warehouse on a bunch of Munitorum Crates. It was an older model made some time ago for a larger project but i decided to give it some love. Also used it to work on my UV-unwrapping skills and to test procedural edge wear in cycles.
Your honest opinion and constructive criticism is always welcome!
I don’t see anything to groan about personally. It looks like what it’s supposed to be. The procedural wear seems to work well. It’s just enough to suggest weathering but not excessive. Although I’m sure some fans of the universe might prefer something more drastic.
Have you tried a brass material for the rounds in the magazine? I think it might sit better with the rest of the model.
Thank you for your comment! You are probably right about the amount of wear but I didn’t want to get that far since this project was more of a test to see how things work. The procedural wear that i used is heavily dependent on geometry and subdv lvl so to make it more worn i’d have to get into texture painting and i wanted to stay away from that At least for this project
I was going to suggest the same. Damages are subtle, and more realistic in your render and not many things in warhammer world are subtle (look on the size of that gun!). But I understand that you don’t want to mess with that stuff anymore. Apart of that I would maybe think about some lighting effects. Maybe light rays, or a little dust. That would add a little more dramatism to your scene.
