Strange folder names/file extensions on old blender files

Hi, I haven’t used blender in a while (2.49a) and some of my old blend files and folders have strange names and extensions. Though not all have changed.

Some of my folders are now named for exsample: blendcache_elfs 5 and the files are named: 6D616C6520656C662E303033_000018_00.bphys with the extension of bphys. I’ve tried googling and searching here but found no answers.

I’ve tried just changing the extension to .blend but that doesn’t work. :frowning:
Any ideas?

Those are data files for physics simulations, they are created by Blender when you run a physics sim.

Thanks that make sense, all had hair in them.
