Stretched textures

hi guys, i’m a newbie so sorry if this has been asked.
I’m trying to put an image (using textures, not UV Mapping) onto a building i modeled, but when i render this is what it looks like…



this is the image I used (the texture)

There are many reasons it would like this, depending on the mapping you are using, and settings regarding the mapping.
