Hi guys, fairly new to blender here, someone got a suggestion on how to achieve this effect with lights?
i need to make a little animation with lights running on walls.

This didn’t look too bad as a start:
I considered, “what would I do in the real world if I wanted this effect?” and went from there. The model is a stretched box, grey interior with normals pointing in, and a horizontal slit at one end. The light is a simple emitter set to 200 (you may need stronger). Between light and box is a vertical array of planes. This was all done in cycles.
I post-processed with a glow filter but you may want to experiment. This would not be difficult to animate to get rolling streaks.
