Stuck in object mode

Hi Folks
I’m a newbie and going through the Gus gingerbread cookie tutorial. I’ve made it before but since I’m new, I’m going through it a second time, but this time I wanted to add some rigging. I tried to get Gus back into Edit Mode but it seems to be stuck in Object Mode. I’m figuring it’s something simple, but it’s beyond me to get it out of OM. Help?

select the object and then you can go into edit mode… you may have a light or camera selected, that’s what trips me up

Ahhh, one has to select a vertice in order to use Edit Mode.
