Stuck in perspective view AND how to reset 3D cursor to origin

Here’s a two-part question, completely unrelated

  1. I am able to enter orthographic view normally (numpad5/menu), and am able to zoom and transform while in orthographic view, but as soon as I rotate in the viewport, blender snaps back into perspective view. How can I fix this?

  2. Is there an easy way to move the 3D cursor to the origin, assuming that I don’t have an object already at the origin (if you do, you just hit shift+S and select cursor->selection)

  1. Shift+C will do that  .

Don’t rotate the viewport, in ortho, you only pan and zoom.

In previous builds, I’ve always been able to rotate in ortho with the mmb. To be clear, I’m not using a blenderfoundation build. Unfortunately, I can’t find a link to my build.

  1. UserPreferences>View&Controls>AutoPerspect - set it OFF.
