Stylized Mountain Troll

This is my first take on creating a Mountain Troll

You can check out the full model in sketchfab: https://skfb.ly/oEPOn

Note: Any Comment about improving the 3D model, texture, or anything that can improve the model is very much appreciated.

Thank you!

Hey that’s cool !

Where does the design comes from ? is it your own ?

There are different ways to improve the model, it’s even possible to make it better without even doing much to the character !

I think the whole character would work better with a pose and context.
Is this mountain troll supposed to be dangerous , mean, friendly ? The actual pose make it quite inoffensive and kinda cute. The high camera make it also look quite small.

But a nice pose, putted in a mountain environment, with more clues about who is that mountain troll and you’ll get a much more convincing character !

A lot of stuff goes into how do we “sell” our stuff to an audience, presentation is a big part of making things looks cool.

Model is cool but something is lacking isn’t it ? :

Maybe a good pose and better lighting :

Some better camera angles :

Add a background and then it starts to tell a story :

Hopes that helps !

Ah Hi, Sozap, Thank you for the reply;

The design is inspired by the Lord of the rings Mountain Troll.

I think the whole character has a lot more work to be done,
and this is my first take on creating a mountain troll.

I’m still learning to rig, animate, and create better 3d Models;
I will try to do a better job on my second take on this
in the future.

Thank you again for the info, it is much appreciated.

Ok !

Your model is kind of stylised / cartoony , is it intentional or you wanted to make something more realistic ?

Yes the model can be improved, but presentation helps a lot !

An average or poor model can become quite cool when presented well.
On the opposite even the coolest model can turn to look cheap with bad lighting , wrong camera …

But maybe you’re more into modeling and texturing at the moment and don’t want to feel overwhelmed by new stuff !

Keep up the good work, practice makes perfect !

Lol I just re-read the title ! Ok the stylized part is intentional :smiley:
Maybe on the next iteration I’ll make comments on the modeling and texturing !
