Sun

So I was asked to make a sun for a commercial, and I think I did what everyone does nowdays:

  • A Sphere
  • A Texture
  • and some fake blur effects on the edges.

The result was okey, but then I wanted to a fly-by for better visualization, and then it would work.

So I made a Sun in AE instead following Video Copilot’s Sun tutorial. Problem with this one, is that’s all 2D…

Jobs done, but I’m still not happy about it… so still trying to make a “better” sun in Blender, any help is much appreciated!

Currently working on the fire node setup with some excellent pointers from Jonathan Lampell and “BlenderMind” (?).

So when you render you “smoke sim” sun, what does it look like?
