Hello Blenderartists ![]()
I had some fun trying some different modelling techniques in this artwork.
Like how to make it look like its one continuous solid smooth mesh, but in reality its all just smokes and mirrors. A geometry node setup helped me here to blend the surface normals of a “cover” geometry to hide the surface intersections and transitions.
Using the new sky background as well as forcing myself to properly “paint” a space ship were also nice things to dabble around with.
I have also devoured the “Framed Ink Vol2” book from Marcos Mateu Mestre and was trying to implement some of his thoughts on composition into this image. Can recommend his books, made me look at artworks in a different way.
I recorded the entire making process of the artwork and can say that it took exactly 24 hours to create, from the first sketch to final render. Ill see if i create a timelapse of it in the near future.
Tech details:
Rendered at 1k samples at 1440p on a 5070ti in 2 minutes.
Secondary shots at 128 samples in around 40 seconds.
Compositing in Blender, signature and slight sharpening in Affinity Designer.
