I have fallen out of using Blender for a while. As a refresher, I decided to try to make a 3D printable version of a character from Super Snail (a phone game) for a friend. He loves to 3D print things, and I have not ever seen my work printed before. This was a surreal experience when he sent me the print in his hand.
Here’s a render in Blender with some later edits that didn’t make it into the print:
Here’s what the print looks like when it’s complete (not a great photo, apologies).
This is a reference image with a WIP along the way.
This was the 3D print image with supports I sent to him as my recommendation.
Overall I spent a few hours on this project and learned a lot about 3D printing with the necessity to join the mesh, remesh it, decimate it, and use the built in Blender 3D toolkit. I can definitely see myself doing more of this!
Thanks for reading.
