Surface deform concave polygons issue

Hi everybody! I’m currently working on the retopology for a Marvelous garment, but I encountered with the surface deform modifier. When trying to bind my retopologised mesh to the target, I get this:

I already tried triangulating the target mesh, cleaning up concave polygons and looking for non manifold geometry. There seem to be no issues in the target geometry, but I keep getting this error.
Does anybody know how to fix this?

Sometimes recalculating normals helps.

Otherwise, this modifier is a complete mess, a black box that decides to work after rolling the dice.
No idea why they couldn’t implement something topology agnostic, like point deform in Houdini.

Great, I was suspecting it could be something almost arbitrary, because the first mesh I processed in the same way gave me no issues at all. I’ll try asap! Thanks for the answer
