Surface with normal map not receiving shadows

Hello,

I’ve encountered a problem which I imagine is common, but I’ve not had much luck finding anything in the forums…

Specifically, I’ve created a paneled ceiling material in Cycles that uses a wood texture for the diffuse map, a baked normal map and a reflection map. For some reason, objects don’t seem to cast shadows on the ceiling…

Any thoughts on the reason for that?


Because the object is a light asset, I had disabled Shadows in the object’s Ray Visibility properties. Turning it on ruined my scene lighting, but it fixed the shadow problem…
