Kinda creepy.
It wasn’t the intention, though 
I just watched the picture and understood nothing. Then I saw “kinda creepy” comment and I was sure it is his home office room. Then I realized the reflection and it made me also think it very creepy. Then I did read your back story.
You can change it more “friendly” with lighting and color balance. The reflection should be more clear so the “father” don’t stay that unknown. Also the door don’t look like at all as a hospital door.
