Hi there,
I am trying to replicate the above structure in Blender 2.8 using a large icosphere mesh and small icospheres using the particle system but I just can’t figure out how to do it. Any help is welcome (of course also approaches not using the particle system)!
- Add the icosphere
- Subdivide it (4 iterations)
- Add a sphere
- Parent sphere to icosphere
- On icosphere’s Instancing settings, enable Verts
- Scale sphere until instances fit nicely
When done, you can select icosphere, and do Object -> Apply -> Make Instances Real, and get rid of icosphere and original sphere.
Hello and thank you so much for your help!
Unfortunately, I cant get it to work from your instructions, the result is sphere shaped, not icosphere shaped as in the picture.

Thanks so much! I went wrong in the very beginning as I went Add -> Mesh -> Icosphere and set its subdivisions to 4 which rendered it sphere-like. After watching your video it works like a charm.
Thank you!
