"Taming of the Shrew" Poster

Hey all!

So a friend of mine is directing the Shakespeare show “Taming of the Shrew,” and he asked me to design the poster for him. A daunting task, to be sure, for he is also a graphic designer. But here is what I came up with, and he is happy with the design!

Now, for explanation:

The part sun/part moon comes from a scene where the woman says she sees the sun, but the man tells her that it is the moon. She eventually agrees, at which point the man says it is in fact the sun. Basically they are training her to not be stubborn and to submit to the man.

Secondly, the man trains her to not be so wild and to submit by withholding food from her unless she does as she’s told.

Finally, there is a little shrew sitting on the T in “Taming.” The woman is called a shrew because she is mischievous and hard to handle, apparently like a shrew.

I worked very hard to make this perfect, so I’d love to get some actual feedback from you all!

Thanks,

Philip H

Isn’t this more like traditional art? If so, you should post in the traditional art section.

Anyway, looks real good. (perhaps a little dark…)

Well to be frank, it’s not traditional. It’s all completely created in Blender in the 3D viewport. I like doing my graphic design within the 3D space of Blender because it allows be to be more creative with my designs I feel. Here’s the setup:

Rendered in Blender Internal, by the way.

Well! you could have fooled me!!! Good job!

Indeed! Here’s the setup:

Yeah simple but effective.
Love the forced perspective on the characters to control the shadow.

It’s definitely not typical Blender art  - Good work!
