it’s going to be on a round pedestal like ChrisDC’s Roman Watch Tower. i’m going to really concentrate on lighting and texturing, and i’m going to do a turntable animation.
there are going to be lots of little interesting things that catch the eye (because the main subject is so boring), like flies zippling around in the light of the windows, K-9 staring down a cat, ruffled newspapers, a garbage can etc.
some of the textures are lo res, that’s because i ripped them off the web, but i will redo them in time.
Yay, Doctor Who! The textures need some work, at first glance they definately look CG. Try adding some dirt and stuff to the wood material to make it less uniform. Modeling looks superb though!
I have a to-scale model of a Tardis I made from a schematic… Can you post your .blend so I can see if you did anything differently than I did? I’ll post my .blend.
I don’t have Cable, my dad downloaded the avi’s in HD and burned them onto a DVD. I saw the entire new series before it came to America on the Sci-fi channel! My dad still has to download the seccond season.
tynach, i had a look at your model and it appears we were both working from the same schematic, though our modeling techniques are quite different, as you’ll see when you look at the version in my file.
You should have a photo of a street or something in the background. And the cobbles could probly be done using a bump map.
Good model though ( imquiete a big fan of doctor who:D )

this project is still a go, i’ve just been pretty swamped at work for the last week or so and haven’t been able to devote much time to it. the small amount of free time i have had has been spent playing with the new summer of code sculpting tools.
this is the ground work for a cat that’s going to be in a staring contest with K-9. i roughed in the form with meta balls, sculpted with the summer of code sculpting tool, and i’m in the process of using the retopo tool to lay down a new topology for further sculpting.
The head and body are from two different modeling sessions, that why they don’t appear to be connected.
i want the final pose of the cat to be more like this:
it’s been something like nine months, but resumed working on this little project.
modeling the cobblestones individually proved too tedious, so i took advantage of the new displace modifier to use the texture to do some of the modeling for me. i then applied the displace modifier and finished the stones in sculpt mode. the cobblestones are about 400,000 polys.
thankfully i can turn the cobblestones off in the viewport thanks to the new features in the Outliner.
