look mom it’s a geo metro wannabe
Wow, very nice! The yellow light looks a tad weird… Kind of darkish…
Other then my strange vision and the yellow light, I would say thats awesome!
Very nice modeling of an interesting and current subject!
The roofline seems a bit ragged. Particularly above the B pillar, I see a jog that doesn’t seem to be there in the photographs at the website.
Very nice model! looks great!!!
Much better. Can do a 3/4 view from the rear as well.
here’s an update:
fixed the mesh around the wierd yellow lamp over the headlamps (forgot to correct the materials though), worked on the headlamp for a better material and mesh, fixed that thing near the B column …what else, tell me?? Think i will go for a quick but of AOE with my freind while i wait for the feed back…
Hi there
I think the model’s ugly but that’s a good thing because I don’t like the real one neither ;).
So, you did a good (and quick) job on modelling but lightning & rendering could be done better.
-
It seems like you’re using a lot of different lamps (that all cast shadows). Maybe you should try to use less lamps (or at least not letting them all cast shadows). But I’m not a lightning-expert so maybe others can give better information about lightning. I frequently use AO and one sun which gives me pretty good results.

I suggest to use a background image so that your car paint can really reflect something. It will look a lot better and more realistic!
-
You should try Indigo. I recently started with it and it really gives awesome results, without a complicated lighting setup! HDRI or a sun and you get a pretty realistic render… after hours of rendering. You can check out my Audi R8which was rendered with indigo to get an idea. (It was my first indigo-test!)
Ciao
Gallardo
ps: you should try to model a nice car too. It gives more satisfying results
did away with the box garage bg for now, will think of the scene only when the model is approved. Check out the first post in the thread for the updated render.
good work , fix the front area of the car <maybe it’s called the bumper?> .
good luck .
please checkout the updated render at the top of this thread and suggest a scene around the car…also, what more work is needed on the model itself?? (cipix, rogper, kroni…where are you guys??)
One road in India after everyone had her/his Tata.

Wish i could do that Jean, my cg skills are not yet up to the level where i am capable of creating something like that. Guess i will have to stick to the car showroom for now…any comments on the model? Is it done or does something remain?
How many models are there of that car?
I keep looking at Google Images and there are not two alike.
Which one did you use?
You’ve done very well and I tend to hold back on artistic decisions. I know what I’d do but then again you’re not a 50 y/o French Canadian are you? LOL I have confidence that you’ll find a balance. I’ll be there for any technical advice I can give though.
Jean
Common, you could do a lot better than this.
Take a look at a real car.
Spend a day or two looking at cars and see how well the panels are aligned on a real car, how the reflections flows from one panel to the other without discontinuities, how the surface is extremely smooth without bumps, how the wheel arcs are perfectly round and then take a look at your car with fresh eyes.
In case after this exercise you still don’t see anything wrong with your model here are a few hints:

Nice job! i don’t get it, i just CAN"T MODEL CARS!!!
you make it looks so easy!
tried to fix the mesh errors and did a new render, check the update at the start of the thread…thanks everyone for their comments and crits
CIPIX: knows the know how.
ANURAAG_01: What an ugly car…
well, like i said, ugly maybe, but i kinda liked the design and as i had also said, for many Indians it is more than just a car…so thanx everyone, wizard, jean, photoguy, EVERYONE…and special thanx to cipix for the precise crits and feedback. Fixed a few things, please take a look and tell me if it ready enough for a ‘finished’ work?
