Temple

This is my first project really the rest are just random doodles and learning controls. Also I’ve only been in Blender about week so don’t expect to much.I wanted to do like a roman temple. So I figured I learned about array modifier I’d try using that to make it. So please don’t be to harsh on me cause I’m not that great with lighting or textures yet :(.

Nice start…looks like your trying to tackle fire which can be very complicated. I find it very hard to create a realistic looking fire. Good luck and have fun…

If this is what you pulled out after a week or so … . you will quite a pro quite shortly. Anyways, I like the camera angle of the render - you have talent to go for the great shots.

My points to concentrate on at the moment is to learn texturing, and familiarise yourself with the bump, spec terms. Regarding the lights - a quick and dirty approach is to more than one light source, with the shadows of some of these turned off.

All the best and look forward to more of your progress!

EDIT - Oh yeah I gave you a shout out on the off-topic

Thanks for the tips guys :). I’ll read about texturing are there any good tutorials to get me started? Or just check our section in the forums?

Texturing is easy - I don’t have access to my blender at the moment else I’d step by step get you going. But a good idea is to look up the tutorial, and UV-unwrap this to get the texture on the box. Do it a few times so it’s kind of automatic for you … then you can go the next step to get your seams etc for more complicated objects.
For me texturing something is the most fun part.
My own “lazy” way is to go through meta androcto’s material library, find something I like, and then tweak the material to accept an image with the bump maps etc already provided.
