Tentacle (Array + Subsurf + Curve) - SoC Modifier Stack Upgrade

Hi there,
I just thought I’d post this little test I made with the SoC modifier stack upgrade:

It’s made of the shape at the bottom duplicated with the array modifier, subsurfed and then deformed with a curve modifier. The ends have been capped with specially modelled objects.

Very nice demo of what the array modifier can be used for.

curve+array is great

Great example, this modifier updates are really some of the best things happening in Blender.
Still waiting for a working “2.5d matte” UV projection…:smiley:

Were you able to do this with one modifier stack, or was there some converting to mesh going on?

Just one modifier stack for the main part of the tentacle (the ends are modelled separately). You can download the blend from the link in my first post if you want to see how it works.

Oooo, how do you do the curve?

I think he used the curve modifier.
