Text object vs texture - performance?

Hello! I am considering between text object with custom font and 4.0 resolution or plane with 1024x1024 alpha-blend texture for text. I just don’t know which method is better for framerates. The plane version sounds better, but I need somebody to confirm it…:wink:

The plane with texture is normally gunna work a bit better I think, but really it depends what it’s for. That mesh text is quite high poly and the mesh it’self is pretty nasty.

With the texture route, you have a lot more control of the style and you can do whatever effects you want in say Gimp.

What exactly is it for? Is it for a HUD or a menu or something?

It is for menu scrolling hintbar. I think that I’ll stick with texture than:)
