Text which is standing on a spiral

Hello! I want to have a text which is “standing” on a spiral-curve. I managed to do something like this with the “Text on a Curve”-setting:

But the text is “lying” on the XY-plane, not not “standing” on the XY-Plane. So it has to be rotated 90° on the spiral itself. But rotating the text 90° on the X-, Y- or Z-axis all doesn’t give what I want… How can I make the text “stand” on the spiral?

just rotate the text on x axis by 90 degrees

if my answer doesn’t help, please provide blend file so i can check it out, thx

Thanks for your reply and your help!

Strange enough, if I rotate the text on the x-axis, I get something like this:

even if I rotate it before I applie “curve on a text”.

I’m not allowed to upload blender-files here because I’m “a new user”. I uploaded it to:
https://wetransfer.com/downloads/51a8881fa1c50c64538975321c5e5ea720231008095739/669080d32d3b373a19627c3f5805b83720231008095750/858d07

Here you go,

text-on-a-spiral_NEW.blend (882.9 KB)

I dunno what happened with your original text, but I have replaced it with a new one, rotate it 90° on both X and Z axes, then add a Curve modifier and stick it to your Spiral curve and that’s it. Now just select your text and move it on the X axis and you’re good to go.

Hope that helps

Cheers,
Sergey

Hi Sergey, it works this way, not using “Text on Curve” but using “Modifiers → Curve → Spiral” on the text. So thanks a lot!

No problem, Cawu

Glad to help

Happy Blending!

Edit the spiral. In the N side panel > Item tab you can set the Mean Tilt value for the points.
Select all and set to -90 or 90, whichever is correct.
Yes - this means with some work your text can spiral around the spiral.

Thanks for your reply. I did this, but it doesn’t seem to have any effect at all:

That is odd. It works for me…

Rotate text

And it works on the file Sergey uploaded that is marked as the solution.

Right, it’s working on Sergeys solution for me as well, but not on the original file with “Curve on Text”. Strange. But thanks for hint, this might be helpful in the future for me.

As it says on this page in the manual.

" You should rather use the Curve modifier, which offers more control, and is the standard way to achieve such effects in modern Blender."

The Text on Curve Option is very old and only for making text curved. Not for animating it.

Thanks for clarifiying this. When you are new to Blender, you google a lot and it seems that a lot of instuctions or videos are still be based on old solutions.
