I don’t know if someone can help me or not but I have this model of the Stanley cup. It has a bump texture but for the life of me I can’t get the texture to fit on the model properly.
I can email the model and texture.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks Owen
first of all, total 4644 vertices were duplicates in your stanley cup only (Select in edit mode, Press “W” and select “remove doubles”.
second, I am unable to get the idea of stuff you are trying put on your cup. but i can help you with what every bump you want to put up on your cup. Unwrap your cup properly, use seams for better unwrapping. adjust your texture according to uv or adjust ur uv according to textures.
NOde setup for bump is mentioned below
That picture is not good, better get a proper stanley cup picture (Front Side) then select your cup “Press 1 for front view” and unwrap , selecting “Project from view”. this will give you a exact cup look a like, which you can adjust on stanley cup picture.
I see what you are saying. I guess the idea that i was going for was just to use a glossy texture and use the bump map to show the engravings on the cup.
Now if I unwrap using “Project from view” the UV will only be on the part of the model that you can see on that view and not 360 degrees around the model…right?
Looks like I may have to try and mark seams and unwrap the model. I did try this before but had problems. I also had the model saved as a object instead of 3ds.
wrong, it will wrap on both sides, with a weird seam in between, which you can clear through painting. (heal brush) . Also, same texture can be used for NOrmal map as well, for picture engraving (if you use gimp, u can do it with normal map script).
