I am trying to create a wall but every time I try to extrude the plane in the X-axis it stretches but in the Y-axis it doesn’t. I was following this tutorial, using object coordinates for the texture.

Hi, We need to see the file to be able to tell.
Your wall have texture coordiantes set to object, yes? And you have rotated the plane? Because with obj coord the object is mapped from straight above (from z /top view). And there will be stretches for the other two (from y / front view; from x / right view)
You can try to [Ctrl-A]pply the rotation to see whether that fixes the issue.
