Also, it looks like you are on the right track.

I dont see anything that needs work the model is a good character and you did a good job making each part stand out. He looks like he will animate well.

looks like you’re on the right track, but the head i still wrong.

as you can see in your avatar, at the bottom of the helmet, the head starts curving towards the neck, where as in your model, the head starts curving out from under the helmet and starts turning back towards the neck at the top of the circle of his “mouth”.

you can see that the “mouth” is well behind the eyes, not sticking out infront of them

what do you do when you make a moving character?

im to paris for four days so ill check my thread on friday. i expect a lot of posts when i come home. (i dont think that that will happen but you can hope :wink: )

four days and still no answer to my question. so if anyone knows the answer please post. i realy need some advice from someone who has some more experiance with armatures.

also i have a problem with ik chains. how do you make them work?

You should make one armature skeleton for all the body, but with separate chain of bones to each limb.
You can see something about that on the blender manual.

the problem is that ive read the manual a few times but i realy dont understand it. if someone can tell it in a few words id be very happy but i know you guys so ill search for tuts. :Z

Well, you should create a chain of bones then press Esc to end it. After that create another chain of bones in another part of the body and press again Esc. You must parent this chains of bones to a central one on the torso of the robot. To parent a bone to another go to the buttons windows and in the editing section you will see a box with the name of the bone and another one next to it that is empty. In there choose the bone you want to parent to.

probably ill use this character for an animation at the culturial festival “develcult” at school. should be fun, a cg animation between the playback acts, dancing acts and the rockbands. it is taking place next schoolyear, maybe even next year (2005).

but for now ill build a little demo/trailer for the audition. (the audition is two months before the show but the jury will have to make an exeption for me :smiley: )

make it brighter. Increade the Emit value to make the dark areas brighter. This will give it a nicer toon look. Also, make the toon shader harder (decrease the Smooth value in the shaders panel.)
