“How long can you go?” – I asked myself not so many moons ago. I’d been dwelling around with the ideas of what to do next in Blender – characters, hard-surface stuff, planets, realistic renders, and so on. But eventually, I came to a conclusion like “Hey, let’s just start making something off the dome instead of chasing a specific idea”. And here we are.
Back in the day, I used to play Desert Strike on the Sega Genesis. I’ve known this game since the early 2000s, and I’ve always loved its isometric graphics, the actual setting that was set in the desert, the mechanics, and everything in between. While working on this project, I was probably unconsciously drawing inspiration from that game as well. I think that was one of the main reasons why I decided to make this artwork in a desert-like style.
But without further ado, ladies and gentlemen – welcome to The City of Farm!

Render No. 1 – The Main Area
Here you can see the hay barn, garden, harvest, barnyard animals
, a bird
(you might need some time to spot her
), the summer kitchen
(on the left), scarecrow, sunflowers
, mushrooms
, tractors
, pumpkins
, and more.
Farmer’s wife: Hank! Take them animals off’a tha lawn!
They’re eatin’ our carrot
, dam’ it to hell!
Render No. 2 – The Train Station
Farmer’s wife: Hey, Hank, there’s a new big load of firewoods
just arrived at the railway
. Get your ass over there and unload those railcars! ![]()
How do you you think they’re gonna heat their homes during the cold days? Yep. That’s why I’ve decided to add the train station as well. I’ve gained some experience while working with the railroads, wagons and trains, by the way.
Also, I wanted to add something like a “welcome message”. Initially, I thought about adding it to the first render, but the final result always didn’t satisfy me, until I figured out that it would be the best choice to add it namely to the train station. And so I did.
Render No. 3 – The Hay Barn Area
This is where most of the harvest is stored.

From what I remember, this is was one of the most diffucult areas for me to make, especially because of the huge amount of plants. I wanted to place as many plants as my hardwarde could handle. Hope my PC won’t burn out one of these next couple of days ![]()
Render No. 4 – The Road
This is the road that allows all the vehicles to go straight to the farm and all its key areas, including the hayfield
, the lake
, the residential zone
, and the main area. Up top, you can also see the water towers, which provide high-quality drinking and irrigation water 24/7/365
to the entire farm, the animals, and all the residents.
P. S. Have you ever seen so much traffic on the road when it comes to farms?! I BET NOT! ![]()
Render No. 5 – The Hay Field
What’s cookin’ on the hayfield, guys?
Are y’all doin’ fine? Is everything working?
Farmer: Excuse me, ma’am. One of the engines on our combine just stopped working. Would you mind asking your husband Hank to take a look at it?
Farmer’s wife: No problem. Go get yourself some rest, and tell the others to take it easy as well.
Farmer: Okay. Thanks, ma’am!
Render No. 6 – Resedential Area
![]()
The place where Hank lives with his wife. Also the place where all workers are living
. They love eating watermelons, so you can see a little plantation where they cultivate them all :).
I was thinking about the place where all firewoods could be stored, but nothing came to mind – until I thought: “Well, I guess it would make sense to place the firewood right next to the farmer’s house”. I also added a few trucks on the road to create the effect that they’re heading there to unload the firewood."
P. S. Even though they love each other sooo much, but both use two different tractors ![]()
Render No. 7 – The Lake
What’s the farm without the lake?!
Initially, I thought to place this one as the second render, but eventually gave it to the Train Station.
Here you can see cute ducks
swimming across the lake, along with lilies, seaweed, fish
, rocks, and woods at the bottom. There’s also a bridge
, which saves you from having to walk around the lake to get to the train station
and/or hay barns – plus, it keeps you out of the way of vehicles on the road.
Render No. 8 – Bird’s-Eye View Map
While thinking about the last render I asked myself “What’s it gonna be like?”, and then I’m like, “Bingo! Why not just render the whole area I built, so that people could see what it looks like from all sides?”. So that’s why I chose to render it exactly from the perspective of the bird’s-eye view.
In conclusion, all I want to say is – there’s nothing impossible. Believe me. When I started working on this project, I had no idea where it would take me. But through hard work, I’ve learned that if you really want to create something, you can get it – no matter what.
Special thanks to @Renzatic and @DNorman for making this all possible.
